When it's time to say goodbye to a Grandparent

Saying goodbye to the person who helped shape who I am today, has been a rush of emotions. The heartache is still ever present and fresh but I am moving from sadness to peace. My Grandma (as do most Grandmas) holds a special place in my heart. See... she taught me how to cook the best pies, how to get a stain out of just about anything and above all, how to love others fiercely and abundantly. Through that fierce and abundant love she taught me by example, how to be a loving Wife and Mother. It still surprises me every now and then that she's gone. When I try a yummy new recipe or find a dish that we had been hunting for, the first person I want to tell is my Grandma.

The love that she poured into me everyday is what I miss the most. It doesn't matter where you are in life, a Grandparent is always there. From wiping yours tears as a child to giving advice (And not heading that advice as a teen) to watching you grow into the adult you are today... A Grandparent's love is…

While I'm waiting | Infertility Struggle

My husband and I knew pretty early on in our marriage that we wanted to start a family. Both of us come from decent sized, close knit families so it was always the plan to start a family early on. I remember being so hopeful the first few months, thinking well this is going to be easy! I just always thought that unprotected sex =  baby but when one whole year passed and we were still not expecting, it became obvious there was an issue.
I don't wish infertility on anyone. It is honestly one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. Between ovulation tests and pregnancy tests to having to work with a fertility specialist, the waiting was so hard. From there it's Blood work, Shots, Ultrasounds to check for follicles and the ever raging monthly reminder that you won't be a mom this month, is truly enough to drive anyone mad! I remember setting the pregnancy test down and staring at it, trying to make that second line appear only to be crushed when after 10 minutes there…

My favorite oils to use are Peppermint, Grapefruit and Lemon. We are trying to live a more toxic free life and that started our journey with Essential Oils.
There are many different companies that you can buy your oils from some MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) or Non MLM. The key is finding a company that you're able to research and get independent testing from. I have tried most of the oil compani…

To my Husband...who doesn't hear this enough

Watching you become a Father has been one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever gone through. You do fatherhood so well! I knew I loved you but watching you become a Daddy, has made my love for you grow deeper. As I'm sitting here writing this, you are asleep but tomorrow you will wake up early and be ready to take on the next day.  You work so hard to provide for us and then come home and are ready to embrace being daddy. So to my Husband, who doesn't hear this enough...Thank you!

Thank you for loving our daughter. From the moment we found out I was expecting, you were so excited to become a father. I had never seen you smile as brightly as the day she was born. From her very first cry to those late night feedings, you were there and ready to help in anyway you could. You have embraced fatherhood full force and I can never thank you enough for loving our daughter.
Thank you for helping me. You are always there to help me when it seems that there aren't enough hou…

Durability Have you ever noticed that vintage and antique dishes are usually heavy and well made? It's crazy to me that I have dishes that are over 60 years old and they hold up better than some of my newer pieces. Why is this? Back then it …

A Grandmother's love and Why it's important to advocate for your loved ones

I started taking care of my Grandmother full time about 5 years ago. At the time, My husband and I had just completed the transition of our Foster Daughter (For privacy I will call her Sunshine) Sunshine's reunification with her Bio parents. Sweet little sunshine had been in our home for 5 months and in care a total of 18 months. While we knew the goal was and had always been reunification, she was by far our hardest goodbye! So with this difficult transition, We decided to take a short break and concentrate on us after a hard transition. Sometimes, things change and you never know when you will be called into another direction... like a completely other direction. Shortly after Sunshine's departure, I began taking care of my Grandma full time.
